General perceptions and facts:
Many young people say they have difficulties to handle their current reality. They may believe they have no purpose and no passion or at least can't get in touch with them.
They wonder why they are in College or University. They doubt about their choices and are not sure they own these choices.
They are bombarded by the news that the media has interpreted for them and generally assumed as "bad".
They may not fully understand why we are in recession and may not have the faintest idea about what they can do about it.
At the same time, the pace of the new technology is ever increasing and even if they can get around them quite easily it creates more confusion and delusion.
They often these technologies as somewhat magical as they don't grasp all these new concepts and their benefits. The way they get into them is often because it is trendy, because a friend
or an enemy got it already, because they don't to miss the boat.
Some of them don't have access to these things and they fill rejected and frustrated.
The school system can't address all these needs as it could be a daunting task even if some of them do a remarkable effort to understand their students concerns.
They may not have a role model and hardly get mentorship. They may feel that nobody can understand them and help them without being perceived as patronizing.
Today's reality is sometimes called the age of interruption. Young people may suffer a lack of focus due to the constant interruptions they receive at any time: Internet, Phone, SMS, Online
messengers, mails, advertisements, visual and audio solicitations of any sorts. A research shows that an individual living in a city can receive up to 300000 solicitations per day in an urban environment.
As young people may not have a discipline in place in regard of all these solicitations, manage priorities and therefore have great difficulties to focus on their purpose and dreams. They
are constantly zapping from one thing to the other and this may result in total disinterest and frustration.
They may not be prepared and trained to manage their own life with respect and tolerance. Gaps are created between them as they don't have access to the same level of information on what
can make their life better. They tend to join groups with a strong leader which really correspond to their aspirations. And joining a group will put them into a box that may increase the difference between them. Some of them will be called "geeks", "hoodies", "yobs", "ASBO's", etc... And they
may feel reassured by these labels but at the same they
lose their own identity and this often the cause of violence and rejections. The parents often feel unable to establish an healthy communication and they often demonize their own children.
We strongly believe that any young person can achieve incredible things, express their emotions through artistic work and can grasp any new concept faster than adults.
